The match between Real Madrid and Manchester City will be a rematch of their stunning semifinal victory over Manchester City last season. With a 4-3 lead and a 1-0 lead going into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, Manchester City appeared to be headed for the championship game.
However, a late goal from Karim Benzema and two goals in stoppage time from Rodrygo turned the tables and propelled Los Blancos into the championship game, where they defeated Liverpool to win their 14th UEFA Champions League championship.
Erling Haaland, who has 51 goals this season in 46 games played in all competitions, will make Man City a far bigger danger to Real Madrid this season.
On May 10, Real Madrid will host the Cityzens in the opening leg. The current EPL champions will be welcomed at the Etihad on May 18 for the second leg of Pep Guardiola’s team’s quest for a treble (EPL, FA Cup, and UCL) this season.
In the other semi-final match, rival Italian teams AC Milan and Inter Milan will compete for a spot in the final, which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey.
The two teams have combined for 10 UCL victories (AC Milan has seven, Inter has three), although the Italian heavyweights have had recent struggles.
Inter Milan, which defeated Bayern Munich for the 2009–10 championship, is the most recent Italian team to hoist the UEFA Champions League trophy. The last time AC Milan achieved glory in Europe was in 2007.
